More Meat On Our Bones

It’s pretty amazing how Our Third Home is off to a flying start putting flesh on its bones. (Mixed metaphors, anyone?)

There’s been a flurry of posts and comments over the past several weeks. Ever reliable Sir H has been inundating us with updates on school news and getting us to click often on the Google HEdCen Academic Calendar 07-08. We’ve opened new blogs, including one for the Seniors’ Internet Education Class, Teacher Ygy’s “T.I.C.” and Sir Ramil’s “Newton’s waffle,” while Teacher Andrea’s “mathematically speaking” is on standby, waiting for Webmissy’s upload of special characters (Paging Webmissy … you’re wanted at the Dedication Booth …). Teacher Annie has activated dozens of students’ email accounts, with ericsaints taking care of the same for parents who’ve signed up.

Of course, in case you haven’t noticed, we’ve got loads of football pics coming from Coach Juaqui and his assistant semi-pro photographers, sisters Sam and Alex Veneracion, as well as from chooanini, plus YouTube video links to a variety of speed and conditioning drills and Quick Feet exercises to supplement the varsity teams’ daily training sessions. You’ll find angst-and-emo-laden entries and a Seven Random Habits or Facts about Yourself Tag making the rounds in individual student blogs. And T. Ygy and Y4 student Margot Cervania just posted “Big Birthday Bash” with photos and text on HEdCen’s anniversary celebration.

We’ve also received a bunch of commendatory remarks for the site and several choices on personal favorites from among Teacher Jeanne’s paintings. (Too bad her exhibit’s over, but we’re glad to report that several of her works were purchased by happy art lovers.)

Not everything has been peachy-keen; “Some snags, there have been” (as Yoda would say), such as photos mysteriously disappearing from the the main gallery (we’ve re-uploaded most of them, bear with us as we complete whatever’s missing), and we still have to figure out how to make the Parent’s Directory fully functional. Blogs are being spammed by unwanted product endorsers and porn site peddlers (ahhh, the hazards of having a vibrant and flourishing ad-free website). But all in all, we’re having a blast nurturing this growing baby.

So what else is in store for us in the immediate future?
> Webmissy is handling the club for an e-zine. Students will come up with news and features articles on special events.
> Now that the bustle of school opening is over, expect Teacher Emma to weigh in with her first blog entries soon (after we give her a crash course on blogging).
> Tons more of posts from students blogs as we push the paperless movement onward.

Hey guys, this site’s bulking up nicely. Let’s keep it going! :-)

Welcome back Webmissy! Waiting for those plugins… :D

And may I make another request? I’ve been wanting to visit other students’ blogs here in hedcen.com, even those that are not updated regularly. Is there a blog list somewhere that I just don’t know how to get to? If not, can have one? Thanks a lot! :)
