for HGC’s Zoology class (Bio HSIII)

Study guide for last lecture (Sep 17) now available at http://hedcen.com/hgc/biology/.

FOOD FOR THOUGHT: The word ‘animal’ is estimated to have been first used around 1398. It’s Latin root is anima which means “breath or soul.” However, it is often used in a negative sense meaning ‘primitive’ or ‘crude.’ It actually replaced the word ‘beast’ in old English.
