Art Exhibit 2008: The Masks of the HS Juniors
As promised, we present the wonderfully crafted masks of the high school juniors, which formed the centerpiece of HEdCen’s Art Exhibit at the Music Room earlier this month:
First up, it’s Junichi’s drama in silver, with a golden-petaled cheek accent and framed by a curling charcoal stem with leaves.
Pouting purple lips and azure octopuses (octopi?) adorn Joan’s ebony creation.
Emilio’s hieroglyphic man prances on the center of the forehead against a backdrop of gold.
Stylized black mustache and goatee and silver symbols on flaming red transform Pea’s face into El Diablo.
Mariel has slender lapis blue curves and a sun-flower gracing a shiny white surface.
A trickle of scarlet blood provides contrast to the rich and dark metallic sheen of Janno’s piece.
Sam gets a kick out of paying homage to HEdCen’s favorite sport.
Blessing combines copper and varied shades of blue and violet with embossed leaf, butterfly and spider web designs.
Samm comes up with this classic symmetrical silver and bronze piece.
Strains of the tribal and the primeval appear in Zach’s semi-camouflage work.
Bold red, white and blue together with a sun-star impart a patriotic flavor to Martin’s mask.
Rael draws inspiration from the Chinese concept of yin and yang.
Whorls in yellow, green and blue spin in Celina’s horizontally-split regions of white and black.
Kalvin opts for minimalism in smooth silver and gold finish.
The masks were displayed in stunning fashion on a bed of white sand with assorted seashells and glazed pottery.
Props to Teacher Jeanne, Sir Edrick, Sir Seth, the rest of the Art faculty, and the HS juniors! ![]()

you did justice to our children’s mask sculptures and the captions reflect the art aficionado in you. I love every piece of that exhibit you know and you made the “gallery” look handsome too. Many thanks.
