CNN.com Interviews Binggirl Clemente On Recycled Tarpaulin Bags and Earth Day Network’s Environmental Advocacy

Remember the post we made last year about Ms. Claire Agabayani’s “From Garbage to Baggage” article in the 05 August 2007 Sunday Inquirer Magazine on HEdCen mom Binggirl Clemente’s project of recycling tarpaulins into bags? Well, Ms. Clemente’s efforts to preserve our environment have attracted the attention of no less than international news media giant CNN.

In a June 9, 2008 feature article entitled “Turning Billboards into Bags,” CNN.com talks with Ms. Clemente about how she came up with the idea for the recycled tarp bags, how the concept became a community-based livelihood project of the Earth Day Network Philippines, Inc. (a local NGO promoting environmental citizenship), and her views on environmental concerns affecting the Philippines. Click on the link above to read the article in full. Props to and cheers for Binggirl and the Earth Day Network!
