Kudos to Rihanna

So many different artists come and go and most of them only produce on or two hits. But you know a star is great if he/she makes hit after hit after hit and seldom fades from the music industry. Like the other great stars, Rihanna has been in the industry for quite some time now. She has been producing great hits such as SOS, We Ride, Unfaithful, Pon De Replay, Umbrella, Hate that I love You, Breakin’ Dishes and so much more. With her latest hit, Take a Bow, se rises to the top of the charts once more. We can only hope to see her rise without legal issues in her way.
I wish her the best and hope to see her in the ranks of the artists in the hall of fame.

Scratch That

I just got my e-mail from magic 89.9 saying that I passed the auditions as one of their Junior Jocks.

Heres the letter:

Hey you guys! :)

Sorry it took so long for us to get back to you, things are really hectic at the station now with so many events coming up. :) Tin here, I know I met some of you in the “judgement room” at the auditions, but there are also a couple who I didn’t get to meet. :(

Anyhoo, congratulations again for making the cut this year! :) We have a meeting at the station on MONDAY, APRIL 21, at 4:30pm. It’s going to be our first ever meeting, so it would be great if everyone could show up, we’ll let you know about what we plan on doing with you guys so it’s suuuuuuuper imperative that you all be there. :) There are 20 of you now, and we’re planning on cutting that number in half - yes only half (or maybe less pa) of you will REALLY get into the program and get to train with the best djs in the country today - Boom Gonzales, CJ the DJ, Big Daddy Jake, the Boys, Mo Twister, etc. :) Attendance is going to count for a lot, we can use it as a gauge as to how committed you are to the program. :)

We’re located at UNIT 907 PARAGON PLAZA EDSA CORNER RELLIANCE MANDALUYONG CITY. It’s the building with the huge-ass antenna on the rooftop and mga chandeliers sa 2nd floor. You can’t miss it. :)

Again, congratulations on making it and good luck on the next stage of eliminations! :)

kisses and cashmere,
Tin Gamboa
Magic 89.9 :)

I guess that means I’m taking a much more wholesome role as one of magic’s Junior Jocks.

Wish me luck guys!

Magic 899’s Junior Jock Auditions

Its every man’s dream to try radio announcing at least once in his life. Its on my top 10 list of things to do before I graduate college. As soon as I heard that magic 89.9 needed junior jocks I had to audition. It took place in Timezone, Bonifacio High Street branch, on April 4-5 at around 10am-10pm. I really wanted the job because being a DJ is almost like being a celebrity without the paparazzi and the fans but still people know you… somehow.
I waited in line from 4:30pm to 10pm, around 5 hours and 30 minutes. I got so bored. Finally I got my turn. I stepped into the makeshift booth (it was one of timezones karaoke booths) with shaking knees and cold hands. I had to act peppy and loud and excited. I think I went overboard. They threw gay jokes at me left and right and all I could do was laugh and agree because I really wanted the spot. After reading an advert on a piece of paper and trying to convince them that I wanted the JJ (junior jock) position they finally a position. They gave me a spot in boys night out (their best and most popular show not to mention the greenest radio show on air ) once a week. But with what I did in the booth I think I’d be sacrificing my dignity for fame (which is what some celebs do anyway).
I don’t know if I should take the spot?

Make The Tears Go Away

It is a known fact that all chicks must leave the nest at some point in their lives. It may be sad to part with its mother and siblings but life moves on with or without it. Last March 29, 2007 I graduated from High School in HEdCen. Somehow I just couldn’t prepare myself for the moment we had to say our goodbyes. After the whole graduation ceremonies we proceeded to our respective classrooms to get our report cards. We all knew that it was going to be rough for everyone to bid their best buds farewell. Parting was made even worse when sir H, our class adviser, surprised us with a very touching slide show of very memorable pictures together from years back. Watching the video brought tears to my eyes as I realized how much I’ve changed and how much I’ll still change through the years ahead. Reminiscing with friends makes things more complicated. I never wanted to leave that room. Then it was time to say goodbye. I tried to avoid the groups of people who were hugging and crying but the closer I reached the door the more I felt empty. I also knew that I had to say goodbye to someone very dear to me, Steph. I looked for her in the crowd of hugging and crying graduates. As I approached her my heart started to beat faster and I was almost panting as I felt the tears fill my eyes. I always had a soft spot for Steph, she was the younger sister I never had. As I hugged her to bid her farewell, my tears started to flow like there was no tomorrow and soon enough I was running out of breath. Panting and crying at the same time I tried to say goodbye clearly but I couldn’t. Every time I got to it I would cry even harder. I didn’t let go of Steph for at least 2 minutes. As I tried to let go, my heart dropped to the floor and tears started to gush out of my eyes once more and the magnitude of the feeling grew. I had to say goodbye but not now, not like this. So I said my teary goodbyes to Ana and the rest of the gang. And the second time I saw Steph I just couldn’t say goodbye. I guess this doesn’t mean its the end of the road for me and the rest of the 2008 high school graduates of HEdCen, especially Steph.

PS. I still cry every time I realize that I wont be seeing much of them in the years to come.

What’s Your Idea of the Best Summer Destination?

I need options for my summer vacation .^_^. Boracay? Palawan? Baguio? Home? School? Anywhere is better that nowhere.

Graduation…..Almost X_X

I fear that the taste of sweet freedom on graduation day would be a bit delayed for me and my classmates. Somehow as the year ends the projects keep on piling up. Things aren’t really went as I hoped, reviewing for the trimester’s final exam while worrying about nothing else. Sadly, studying for the exams has become a more stressful task due to the deadlines for every project. The taste of freedom still seems to be a distant cry from what I am experiencing. Should it really be this hard?

It’s My Song!!!

I just love the feeling when my favorite song is played on the radio. The hype just gets you going! The sensation starts from my feet making me do a jig (which hopefully no one would notice) then I start singing like a madman. When my song is played there’s no telling what havoc I might unleash.

My song would probably be “So Young” by the Corrs. This song reminds me about the good old days where I was not troubled by too much stress and life was much simpler. I was not involved with the whole “family dilemma” and other things because they didn’t expect much from me. When this song would play in the car’s cassette player I would roll my window down and feel the wind in my face and start to belt the song. ” Coz we are so young now, we are so young, so young now
And when tommorow comes, we can do it all again”, this means so much to me because it reminds me to take things easy. Being myself, I tend to be uptight at times. This song reminds me that every second is a step closer to adulthood so I should take things lightly (but not too light).

So when my song plays, I feel that groove and shake my “goove-thang” and start to belt it! ” Coz we are so young now, we are so young, so young now…………..”

There’s Something About The Red Cup

I don’t know. I just draws you closer, it knows you, it makes you happy, it makes you feel relaxed…I just don’t know what it is. I’m hooked.

Waxed!

With the ethnic photo shoot coming up i thought I should wax because what I was going to wear was a tad bit short. I feared the day that I’d have to wax my legs but it must be done. The photo shoot wasn’t the only reason, i was also very curious. There are so many stories on how waxing hurts. Some say it feels like they peel your skin off exposing your innards. Because of the rumors i wasn’t too hot on getting both my legs waxed. But i really needed those hairless legs so desperate measures were taken.

So I went to one of Manila’s most popular parlors and checked of they could wax and they did offer the option. It cost nearly Php500 for both legs. It was pretty cheap considering how much wax strips cost in supermarkets. The first thing she asked me was to lie down on their seemingly small bed. Then I waited for about 30 minutes because someone apparently lost the waxing strips. I waited patiently as they were running around looking for waxing strips and heating the wax. and finally it began. By this time the tension was cutting me in two. She applied the hot wax on my shin and spread it around. Then she placed the white waxing strip on the area with hot wax and patted it. I thought I was going to die. While she was rubbing the strip I remembered my brother’s ex-girlfriends story of how she tore her upper lip by waxing. I knew I was going to die. Then with a strong heave she pulled the wax strip quickly and to my surprise it didn’t hurt at all, it was shocking but not painful. The rest is history. The only part that made me twitch a bit was when she threaded the excess hairs but aside from that It didn’t hurt at all.

Application of wax on skin 1,2,3… go!
