Filipinos for a week?

I asked this question during our last day of celebration of Linggo ng Wika at Kasaysayan: If we are truly Filipinos at heart, by deed and language, how come Filipino is not the favorite subject of the majority of Filipino students? This is proven by low performance in the […]

The Buzzer

• Why The Little Farm House did not have a buzzer for 15 years
Yes, there was no school bell or a buzzer to signal the start of every class period. The teachers had to be experts on time management and should have a built-in alarm system for them to know the […]

We all know that change is the only constant in our life. Everyday, we are several strands of hair less depending on how old we are. We grow older every second. We shed skin and grow new skin.
We like to stay the same if we like who we are. We want things to be the way they are if we are comfortable with where we are.

But we grow and outgrow many things, many times in our short lifetime.

Here are some ways we deal with things that do not jibe with how we want things to be:

move to another environment

remove that which causes discomfort

desire that the person, object in front of us change

sock it to someone

say that life sucks

blame

sigh

etc…

The change that we all want is a change that makes us thinner, fitter, happier, lovelier, sexier, more appealing, richer, healthier, more famous, brighter and as much as possible with  minimum effort exerted:

healthier and yet indulge in unhealthy habits

fitter without the regimen of physical exercise

richer without having to work like horses

happier while we blame others when our life sucks

great grades without doing our homework, accomplishing school requirements, studying for the exams and making time for all these.

Midterms is next week. Do you want to be happy? You have a choice. Change your ways or regret? If your principle in life is living without regrets, then change gears. Cambio for change. Start yesterday!

# 15, page 31 on Discipline Policies and Guidelines of our Student Handbook.

The school does not allow students to bring playing cards, electronic toys, mobile phones and other gadgets.

However, there are 1001 reasons why they still would. Among these reasons, one stands out as the only excuse that the school may be open about: parents’ need to contact the child after he leaves the gate of HedCen.

The following guidelines are to be observed strictly to avoid confiscation:

  • Parents should make a written request addressed to the Principal/Center Director, thru the Teacher-in-Charge. Please state your reason/s why there is a need for you to make this request.
  • Secure the mobile phone inside a plastic zip lock bag, properly labeled with your child’s name.
  • Your child is required to submit it to the Teacher-in-Charge/Teacher Raquel or Teacher Angie for safekeeping during the day.
  • Your child may claim his phone only after dismissal time. Parents are discouraged from contacting the child through his mobile phone during the day because the school may be contacted for emergency reasons.
  • You may contact the school through Teacher Raquel for emergencies:

The school is not liable for damage or loss while the mobile phone is in its custody.
