Better Parent for a Better Earth
Last August 6, the grade 6 class of Teacher Angie reminded the HedCen children that Filipinos have beautiful traits and I took this chance to tell them about the crusade of one of the HedCen parents.
Ms. Binggirl Clemente’s advocacy runs parallel with that of our school’s. She has the future of the earth laid out before her and has been putting her thumbprints on environmental issues such as the 3 r’s of environment friendly habits: reduce (to which I said “refuse”), reuse and recycle. Her tarpauline recycled bags is her newest project. I would like to let everyone know that parents’ achievements are sources of pride and joy to their children and you can imagine how Skie and Lupe beamed. Binggirl is a Filipino we are proud to know.
To cap the week, our Grade 6 students sang a little campaign song on “pagtitipid sa kuryente at tubig”.

Magtipid sa tubig, upang di maubusan
Di lang sa eskuwela, pati rin sa tahanan
Di lang ngayon kundi magpakaylanman!
Kung kayo’y lalabas ng inyong mga kuwarto
Patayin ang ilaw, aircon at electric fan
Sayang ang kuryente, dapat ito’y alam
Ugaling sana’y gawin ng tama.
