Filipinos for a week?
I asked this question during our last day of celebration of Linggo ng Wika at Kasaysayan: If we are truly Filipinos at heart, by deed and language, how come Filipino is not the favorite subject of the majority of Filipino students? This is proven by low performance in the subjects as confirmed by remedial needs and test scores. I asked them if they can prove that they are not just Filipinos for a week and prove that they are beyond celebration by getting good grades in Filipino and AP. They all roared “YES” to that!
Meanwhile, I have pictures to remind everyone of that wonderful week. Make-up, decor, food we are reminded through the pictures and the weight we gain, but I worry how much of my speech will be remembered as they prepare for their finals next week.
