Dear Little Farm House Residents,

We are going to have a christmas show on the 21st of December. This show is dedicated to the children of Child House. Please support this project as we would like to put some action to the word Love.

Child House was a pet project of the officers of HEdCen student council last school year. The proceeds of their major project was donated to the children of this foundation. HEdCen after Dark, the school fair was a fund raising activity that earned around P14,000.

It was enlightening for our students to see how their little help can buy medicines or pay for the transportation expenses. More than this, they were also surprised to see sick children who smiled at them in spite of their discomfort or pain even. It is at this point that we begin to ask: Who really benefits from this act of kindness? Who is the real recipient?

We will be selling tickets and I hope you buy a lot!! Please take time to visit the place with your children to spend some precious minutes with the less fortunate.

While I wish you all a Merry Christmas, let us not forget to give the children from Child House a HOPEful one.

Teacher Emma

Is being homebound out of style? It should not be after Glorieta 2! if you will say staying at home is boring, then turn on all those light bulbs and be creative!!

- ask mom to stay put and be still by making a sketch of her. (this will keep her from talking and nagging of course that is not your point. you want her to have a bit of quiet rest and to note down features that you have in common.

- ask your dad to draw your face so he would notice how you have changed. make sure you put a smile on that face as this does not happen all the time.

- experiment on being nicer. see if you can catch more ants with sugar. your parents respond to how you are to them.

- do not clean your room at all as it might change your luck. You see, the energy in your room depends on how you live there. if you are confused or having a series of bad luck, it is because the “chi” or energy does not have the space to be renewed or circulate in a room full of dirty clothes and strewn things. it is another story if you like clean, happy and light feeling plus good luck

- then of course you can watch a movie together and plan for how you can make your christmas with the family a blast!

-

Features of La Cabeza (the head):

a home for the homeless: the hair which is partly a protective cover and a crowning glory (supposedly) is a juicy habitat for small, blood-sucking creatures. The eggs are laid on hair strands giving it a beaded effect. Women or girls who undergo a treatment called “plantsa” in an effort to achieve a sleek, fluid hairdo will attest to the fact that the nits (eggs or young form of lice) or “lisa” are drastically killed in the process. Hair or the absence of it can give us a particular look or expression- peaceful, wind-blown, old, young, “aburido”, etc.

the skull is thick and holds and protects the brain. it may be used for growing hair since it is covered with skin called scalp. Other animal forms including humans use their skull in activities like head-butting, headstand in yoga, heading in soccer and head banging during epileptic fits, rock concerts and tantrums.

other people use their head for reasons like introspection, discernment, meditation, mental telepathy, learning or acquiring knowledge and storing vast amount of pertinent and impertinent data.

However we choose to use our head is a matter of taste or individual preference- midterm weeks are here. non-acads this week (oct. 1-5) and acads next (oct. 8-12).

Greetings! I would like to formally conclude the first trimester of AY 2007-2008 by presenting to you the progress report of your children’s academic achievements.

Our Report Card day and Parent-Child-Teacher Conference will be on Saturday, September 22 from 7:30 a.m.-12:00 nn. The cards will be given by the TIC’s (Teachers In Charge) of the different grade levels in their respective classrooms. Children from Grade 1 to Year 4 are expected to accompany their parents.

The teachers will attend to you on a first-come, first-served basis. Please make sure that you sign up as you arrive to ensure an orderly and efficient conference. It would be worth your while to make your meeting brief. (A ten-minute session is usually enough.)
You are encouraged to meet with all your child’s teachers. Our Guidance Counselor, Mrs. A Nacionales will be in the library for consultation.

For our Kumon students, the centre will be open for trimestral feedbacking while I will be available in the Bahay Kubo to assist you if needed.

See you all!

Sincerely,

Emma O. Gutierrez
Center Director
