Pintô Art Gallery is an artists’ haven in Antipolo, and is a wondrous work of art in itself. The natural beauty of Dr. Joven Cuanang’s Silangan Gardens estate (located at 1 Sierra Madre, Grand Heights) has been enhanced by the creations introduced over the years by its owner and its many resident and visiting artists.

Green and gold predominate in the pictures below taken during the 13 May 2007 opening of the AAF 2007: Sixth Antipolo Arts Festival (which features the “Recent Paintings” of HEdCen’s very own Art Teacher, Jeanne Tan) as we wandered around the vast grounds of Dr. Cuanang’s weekend retreat/art exhibits venue.

Among its chief attractions are the ponds surrounding the lower portion of the estate. Here we have a sculpture of a semi-nude man seated on a couple of large stones, contemplating the still waters.

My daughter and I chanced upon this striped tabby as it lay basking in the late afternoon sun, surrounded by earthenware on a wooden slab.

My son enjoyed exploring the gardens and ponds. He discovered this frog (he thinks it’s a golden mantella) hiding among the water plants. I tried to get as close to it as I could for this shot and nearly fell in the pond.

This airy cabana rising above the water lilies seems an idyllic hideaway for honeymooners.

A metal sculpture of a flying female trumpeteer atop the main house reflects the rays of the setting sun.
