Sagada’s Wild Strawberries
On our first day in Sagada, we went hiking up to Marlboro Country, hoping to catch a glimpse of the wild horses roaming that area on occasion. While we didn’t get to see the horses, we encountered other delights along the way, including patches of these strawberries growing in the wild which Binggirl pointed out to us.
They’re edible but (according to Mabel, Mallotte and Kiteen) they taste a bit tart. They’re also tinier than the cultivated variety and, as you can see, some of the oddly-shaped ones glow with a luster that’s very tempting, promising to explode with a juicy burst in your mouth.

Hi Eric,
Nice photos! Never saw these in my two trips to Sagada.
I hear your school is wonderful — through Connie, of course, and I love the way the parents are so involved in their children’s education, as it should be.
Congratulations!

Hey Lisa!
Great of you to drop in at our school’s website. Yup, the school’s wonderful, like Connie says. (Did she mention we’re teaching too?) Btw, Mallotte and I have been planning on visiting your place in Baguio, but still haven’t gotten around to doing so. Hope to see you soon after a really looooong time! Thanks!

Thanks “a bunch” Senor Ding, but these photos were relatively easy to take using the digital macro setting of Mallotte’s Canon Ixus 40, which I had a lot of opportunities in Sagada to experiment with (mainly for very cooperative plant life subjects who do pretty much nothing but wait around for amateur photogs to notice them). Nangangarap pa rin kami ni Mallotte ng DSLR, but it’ll have to wait til after we get around to doing a host of home improvement projects we’ve been putting off for years!
:-/ (Talk about mixed feelings!)
