Post Soccer Game

Varsity, Random Thoughts 2 Comments

Ah… it’s so nice to be able to relax after a hard-played game. Well, not exactly hard-played since most girls were otu of shape. But I can definitely say it wasn’t our worst.

We arrived late for the game because we came from the AFP Theater where we watched Kanser, Jose Rizal’s Noli-Me-Tangere. The play was okay. I especially liked the last parts, those with the creepy red light. Kudos to the woman who acted as Sisa for playing the part well! The whole play experience was alright. Thing is, there’s one huge flaw in the package.

I’d like to commend the HedCen students for being…HedCen students, for the lack of terms to use. Everyone except for us (no, I am not being biased about this) was making a hell lot of noise. Especially when that guy who plays Padre Salvi enters the stage. Geez, there was an uproar. Man, they just liked him just ’cause may mas pangit pa sa kanya (as a classmate said)! I mean, dude, our boys are - ahem! - acceptable enough generally better-looking.

Kinda pathetic if you ask me.

So we went to Xavier afterwards with our new uniforms on (the neon blue ones that glow in the dark) and played against the Miriam 11-aside, born-1990 girls. Our first half wasn’t the ideal first half. I knew we could do better. Everyone knew we can do better. And so we did. The second half was much okay than the first and we won with a score of 2-1 (c/o Mary Rose and me).

Oh, and hey, I’m number 14!

On the way home, we passed by Jollibee then scared each other with a couple of ghost (stories that still give me creeps till now) in the car. Since Ate Joan and I were the only ones who would actually get off at school and stay there, we were, normally, scared (scared so much that nature decided to make a call) and our bags were in our respective classrooms where it was dark and scary and, well, dark. After those stories, we were not exactly willing to go back to our classrooms and retrieve our things. Thank God for the guard, the manongs who helped us out. Yeah, and Kevin who helped Ate Joan get her stuff in her classroom.

So here I am, typing at God-knows-what-hour when I should be sleeping. Hmm…

Happiness

Random Thoughts, Academics No Comments

According to Reader’s Digest Word Power Dictionary happiness is a noun meaning: feeling or showing pleasure or contentment.

Don’t you think the meaning is a bit lacking, incomplete? The true definition of happiness can’t be found in any Webster’s dictionary but rather, inside. You would know it when you’re feeling elated. No one would tell you, “Hey, you’re happy!” There’s just this feeling inside that compels you to smile or to laugh.

Furthermore, happiness isn’t just a byproduct of winning the lotto or getting 3,000,000 in Deal or No Deal. Sure, those things give you sheer, utter delight but even the simplest of things can bring true pleasure to a soul be it a high score in an exam or a joke of a classmate.

In Cold Blood

Brr… it’s so cold. My teeth are chattering and my fingers are numb that I can barely type. The type of cold that makes you want to just sleep all day, not the I’m-gonna-freeze-to-death one.

I’m currently enjoying this day’s No Classes state with a couple of books and my every trusty computer. Mamaya na yang homework! I do need to get some rest. Especially with my aching limbs probably brought by the stretching yesterday.

I have this bulky HTML book at home which I almost never read. Lately, it has proved to be quite handy in my blog template-modifying escapades since I know absolutely nothing when it comes to HTML-ing. I result to downloading blogskins and then modify them. I still leave the credits on, of course, since it wasn’t me who created the template in the first place.

So for those peeps out there who know nothing about HTML and resort to downloading blogskins, check out some cool templates at http://www.blogskins.com. However, you can only use them with the Classic Blogger template modifier. Blogger has an upgraded template modifier that makes use of XML codes so the templates in blogskins.com won’t work. (Honestly, I advice you against it ’cause it’s so much cooler to upload your own template.)

It’s Raining, It’s Pouring

Alas, shall we ever find reprieve from this neverending rain?

For the past two to three days, it has been raining so much. Sometimes they come in droplets that just make a soft and relaxing pitter-patter sound on the roof. Most of the time, however, they thunder from above and make entirely an raucous festivity of thunder, lightning and ice-cold water.

At about our Comm. Arts period, it was terribly chilly that we turned of the fans and were still perfectly content without them. Grabe, Art (my seatmate) and I were shivering, cold arms and all! Our class barely heard each other over the violent downpour outside. We were dismissed early, the rationale behind it being: we could barely hear each other, what use would the discussion be?

I do love the rain, especially its sound, be it the gentle pitter-patter or the raucous fesitivity of thunder, lightning and ice-cold water. Unfortunately, it has its disadvantages too.

Our PE time was spent inside classrooms where we had stretching exercises, push-ups and abdominals.

I guess the varsity practice was cancelled. I didn’t see anyone in the fields. Maybe it’s because the fields are muddy onslaughts of utter “muddiness?”

Another thing, the rain makes sleeping more of an inviting prospect. Under the blankets, cuddled up with your fluffy pillows and cute stuffed teddy bear, wouldn’t that make you want to just go and lapse of into dreamland? Most of the time I spent in school today was not for studying but for trying to keep myself awake. Oh the temptation!

Varsity Abstinence

How many days have I not gone to varsity? How many days have I skipped out on my responsibility?

In all honesty, I really, really want to go. But there are more pressing matters like my homework. And the damnable rain. Rain, rain, rain… Afternoons usually consist of wet fields, sloppy weather and noisy guys playing cards and ringing bells.

Good thing I have other ways to spend my time when I’m not attending varsity! Like reading, doing Kumon, reading, doing my homework, and reading.

:D
